Leading Teams and Managing a Diverse Workforce (4-part series)

This workshop is aimed at managers and directors of various human service agencies. This workshop's goal is to give managers and directors information on how to manage a diverse team through self-awareness, collaboration, and creative thinking. Participants of this workshop can expect to explore various aspects of self-management and others' management in pursuing individual and organizational goals. Part one of this series will focus on leading and retaining diverse teams and creating an inclusive work environment. Part two will focus on classic manager mistakes and self-management as a tool for leading teams. The third portion of this workshop will focus on leading others and engaging in collaborative work with your supervisees. The last series will focus on goal setting, delivering appraisals, and inspiring and stimulating, creating thinking amongst your team.  

Goals:

  • Explain what diversity is and how it affects teams
  • Gain awareness on the importance of inclusive and multicultural leadership
  • Uncover and learn from classic manager mistakes
  • Recognize triggers to manage emotions and reactivity better
  • Address the difference between dialogue, discussion, and debate
  • Learn how to manage differences through compromise
  • Distinguish between collaboration and authoritarianism
  • Recognize how to set expectations during performance appraisals
